Representative Eric Swalwell announced Monday that he will no longer represent California’s 14th district.

Swalwell is stepping down amid sexual assault allegations from former and current staffers. He is also being investigated by the Department of Homeland Security for hiring a Brazilian national to work as his nanny.

The Hill quotes USCIS as stating that “federal law prohibits employers for knowingly hiring aliens who are not authorized to work in the United States,” which includes “a member of Congress.”

Swalwell denies claims, saying, they are “absolutely false…I will fight them with everything that I have.”

Since the 119th Congress has been in session, Swalwell has personally sponsored a total of 10 bills, and has acted as co-sponsor to hundreds more.

Notable bills sponsored by Congressman Eric Swalwell:
HR 820-Bottles and Breastfeeding Equipment Screening Enhancement Act

Requires TSA to create guidelines around screening processes that limit contamination of breast ilk and baby formula for mothers travelling with children by air.

HR 3203- Journalist Protection Act

Codifies criminal offenses for those who cause intentional physical harm to a journalist

HR 5294- For the Relief of Miguel Lopez Luvian

Support for the naturalization of Miguel Luvian, a legal immigrant who was detained and deported shortly before a scheduled deportation hearing.
