H.R. 8190
Introduced 4/2/2026
Sponsored by Democrat Haley Stevens
It appears those long bureaucratic waits that the Social Security Administration is known for is being put to an end. Haley Stevens is leading the charge with a bill that would require the Administration to hire a full-time staff that would be “greater than or equal to” the capacity the agency maintained on January 19, 2025. The reason why this date was chosen is not made clear.

Representative Haley Stevens, Michigan
To reach this capacity, 75% of employees hired to meet said capacity must fill positions in the following areas:
- field office (in-person visits)
- call centers (designated staff for SSA beneficiaries inquiries)
- program service centers
- payment processing facilities
- regional field offices
- positions related to resolving disability claims and disputes
The remaining 25% of hiring would be focused around hiring managerial and administrative support around the newly staffed positions.
