IRS-Bye Felicia! The Fair Tax Act of 2025

Republican Earl Carter has introduced a bill that would please both national and sovereign citizens alike if passed. The Fair Tax Act of 2025 would effectively repeal income tax, abolish the IRS and enact a national sales tax. Ultimately, he seeks to “provide for the administration of the tax law in a manner that respects privacy, due process, individual rights when interacting with the government, the presumption of innocence in criminal proceedings, and the presumption of lawful behavior in civil proceedings.”

Here is a list of taxes that would be repealed:

  • Income
  • Payroll
  • Estate

The Act also makes note of congressional findings regarding the cons of our current tax system, and how the elimination of the IRS would benefit citizens. Further, it provides a game plan for the phase-out of the IRS as well as a gameplan on the funding of Social Security.

Of greater note, the Act seems to encourage the altering of the Constitution. The Act has a provision that eliminates sales tax if the 16th Amendment is not repealed within a certain time frame of the date of enactment of the Act.
